Our Shepherd/Leader - Pastor David Evans, Jr.
Pastor David Evans, Jr. was born in Oakland, California and raise on the Monterey Peninsula. He accepted Jesus Christ into his life and was baptized at First Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in 1986 by the late Pastor James W. Stewart, Sr. He has served the Christian community most of his life.
Pastor Evans received his formal education from the Oakland and Monterey Peninsula School Districts; and he graduated from Seaside High School in 1998. He continued his secondary education at Monterey Peninsula College. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Biblical Studies at the Sacramento Theological Seminary in 2013.
Pastor Evans accepted his call to preach the gospel in 1999 and was licensed at the New Hope Baptist Church in Seaside, CA under the leadership of the late Pastor Benjamin Charles Franklin. In 2005, he was also ordained at the New Hope BC by Pastor M.L. Carter, and served faithfully as an Associate Minister.
Pastor Evans has served as Youth Minister of the First Morning Star MBC under the leadership of Pastor Albert Joe Harris, Jr. and also as an Associate Minister at the First New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jerry L. Blackmon.
On September 5, 2010 Reverend David Evans, Jr. elected to serve as Pastor of Second Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, California. He resigned from Second Bethel Missionary Baptist Church on October 2, 2016 to accept this assignment as Senior Pastor of the historical Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Stockton, California.
Pastor Evans has been a member of The Bay Cities Baptist Ministers Union and also a past member of the Baptist Ministers Union in Oakland, California. He has served as Recording Secretary and General Secretary of the St. John Missionary Baptist District Association, Inc. under the leadership of Moderator Dr. Fleetwood E. Irving. He currently serves as General Secretary of the Mt. Zion Baptist District Association of the greater bay area, under the leadership of Moderator Dr. Anthony Braxton.
Pastor Evans is the father of Davonte, Daila and Daryus. He is a son, a brother, a cousin, an uncle and a friend. He is a preacher, a teacher, a mentor, a scholar, and a leader.
